What an extraordinary journey it has been for all of us here at Luck Companies. Much like the rest of our associates I began my career in a traditional sales role in 1990 before becoming an officer of the company from 1993-2008. However back in 2003 when we began our values journey, all of our roles became anything but traditional. Today I serve as Chief Leadership Officer, a position I have held for almost 5 years which includes the responsibility to lead what we refer to as the second phase of our values journey. A phase that had us rewrite our company mission statement to its current version, “to ignite human potential and positively impact lives around the world”. And it is our passion to live our mission, and the unbending truth that our values are more than just words hanging on a wall, that makes all of our associates’ roles from individual contributors to the officer level anything but traditional.

Living our mission requires each and every one of us to work incredibly hard on ourselves to in turn positively impact the lives of those around us. As a self proclaimed “recovering jerk” the idea that change needed to begin with me let alone care enough about others to want to help them was quite a stretch. For the last 12 years I’ve had to work extraordinarily hard to first understand my own personal core values, principles, beliefs and resulting behavioral patterns. And it was some of those core beliefs such as “people are a means to an end” that required fierce interrogation and ultimately blown up to unlock my own personal potential to serve others. My lifelong values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, accountability and discipline needed to be supplemented with values such as friendship and relationship to ensure I could adapt my behaviors to be more caring, compassionate and empathetic.

Through all this work I discovered my own personal mission or purpose in life was to help others believe in their own extraordinary potential and become all they are capable of becoming. As Chief Leadership Officer of Luck Companies I am so fortunate to be able to live this mission every minute of every day and responsible in turn to inspire others all around the world to do the same, to live their lives meaningfully well.
